Bakrman-1 Exploration Well

Bakrman‐1 well with very promising shows – on trend with Atrush discovery
Bakrman-1 Exploration Well
The exploration well to assess the Aqra anticline on the Akri-Bijeel block was drilled 32 km to the north-west of the Bijell‑1 discovery well and 25 km to the west-northwest of the Bijell-3 appraisal well. The well was drilled to 4,100 m and finished in Kurra Chine B zone anhydrite, dolomite and limestone. First Open Hole test was done in interval 3,811-3,932 m MD (measured depth) Kurra Chine A and B zones where total mud loss took place during drilling. The test produced 1464 bbl/d water with N2 lifting. The second Open Hole test was performed 3,930-4,100 m MD in Triassic Kurra Chine B zone. The inflow was 2,616 bbl 32-35°API oil and 5.86 MMscfd (1,070 boepd) gas. Gas had around 40 % H2S and 40 % CO2 content on 64/64”choke and WHP 272 psi. Three Cased Hole DST have been  perforated till now. There was no oil inflow some traces of gas and H2S were experienced. There are five further tests (one is optional) to be planned in the well, those can be finished in April 2013.

Atrush river at Bavian

Sennacherib (700 bc) built a dam on the Atrush river at Bavian and diverted its water by a canal                   to Nineveh (present Syria). It followed a winding course. The most impressing part being at Jerwan; here    the valley is spanned by a 300 m long dyke built on limestone blocks and carrying a conduit no less that 12 m wide. (after Hodge 1992)
